Some people need time

1. Time to think
I've always been against timed examinations.

For me, what's important is the quality of work. Why should you be fast and good, when you can be slow and better? Why do we have to be rushed? If we learn at our own pace, why not be tested at our own pace?

We're forced into making quick decisions all the time. But why is this valued so highly? Why do people always think quick-thinkers are the best thinkers? Isn't it so much better if you have time to think it over, come to an informed conclusion, and then make your choice? Society is quirky in so many ways.

2. Time to adjust
When you throw someone from the cold and into the frying pan, you need to give them some time to adjust for the jet-lag.

You can't just expect everyone to be ready in the flick of a finger. Of course we have to be prepared for anything that hits us. But we aren't superhumans. We can't be ready for anything, anytime, instantly. And people need to understand that.

3. Time to have fun
Teenagers need to have fun, too.

We need to slow down, get away from a life of assignments, deadlines, projects, more deadlines. It's not just adult life that is hectic. Teenagers have to deal with many things too! We may be acting tough on the outside, all emotionally strong, full of pride, head held up high - some choose to keep quiet, but not everyone is made to tolerate tons of stress and such a fast-paced life.

It seems that all parents aspire to have that one perfect kid - hardworking, does nothing but study, has no life, has no friends... But being hardworking shouldn't be a trait all poster kids of the generation has to have. Why can't carefree, life-loving and generally fun person be considered a good child? When you see how rude with a total lack of morals and rebellious other kids can be, you think sometimes parents don't know how lucky they are.

Time may be money. Time may be precious. But perhaps that's why no one is willing to give others any of it.
