Popularity

So what's the big deal about receiving immense adoration from all of your faithful servants?
Where's the satisfaction in having so many worshippers?
And finally, what's the catch?
Most of you probably know, i'm a "To heck with popularity" person. Truth is, it's almost human nature to crave acceptance and affection among your peers. You can't deny that at any point in your life, you've wanted to be popular. But to be accepted is one thing. To actively seek acceptance is another.
As HweePeng once quoted, "People ask for criticism, but they only want praise." Uncannily, this is very true. Even of me, Queen of To Heck With Popularity. Of course we want to impress others. Of course we don't want to be outcasts.
So what's your point, Big Smartypants To Heck With Popularity Your Highness Christine? You ask.
Well, they're what I call attention-seekers.
And they're what I can't stand.
You see, I find no value in having worshippers. So you have lots of "friends". So what? Why chase something that's worthless? Friendship isn't supposed to be about fairweather friends. There are people who are there for you, and not just to be your chatting buddies.
People want to help you through your rainy days, and sometimes to help, criticism is required. Take our advice. Think about it. Don't push it away and ignore it. Sometimes it's a damper to your spirits. But remember, the sun shines brightest after the darkest thunderstorm. Isn't it better that people try to help, rather than just be your minions and compliment everything about you?
Incomplete. Unmotivated. Unchanged. That's the sort of life you'll have.
Don't put on rose-tinted glasses just because it'll make you happy for a while. I know it's tempting. But in the long run, you'll only make yourself even more miserable. Live life for yourself and not others.
Let me cut straight to the chase. Stay true to yourself and to others and live your life however you see fit, and you'll get all the popularity you deserve. Don't get caught up in a popularity contest - It'll only prove that you have no self worth - you're only fighting for attention from others.
You shouldn't have to fight for the attention you deserve.
Love yourself and others will love you back.
