Friends

I think Friends is the most awesome comedy sitcom that lasted through the centennial.
Or maybe American comedy drama sitcom (whatever it is, really) has just plain deteriorated ever since?
I think American TV was actually really good back in the late 1990s, with reality shows, game shows (loved them) and talk shows at their peak. Shows like Wheel of Fortune, The Price Is Right, Oprah. They were really interesting and the concepts were new.
The kind of shows we get on TV now are all either a) rip-offs of old reality\game shows with new unexciting twists, b) really long-running shows that have lost their spark. These old franchises have gotten boring. If it's not because there are no new innovations to improve the series, it's because they have been ruined by new ideas that only idiots could've come up with.
Nowadays, you don't see anymore comedies like Friends. The jokes are often not cliche, and those that do have cliches are given fresh twists. But now it seems that all American comedy sitcoms are just old.The jokes are just dry. The plots don't develop. There are no major plot turns or twists, or even major events.
Sometimes it's just a family's lives revolving around a family's house with nothing interest to make you grasp for more. American sitcoms have descended to the same types of characters with no psychology or depth in their characters or plots. Even the Simpsons' ridiculous and very, very random plots can make for entertainment because of unique character traits and styles portrayed in the cool but very, very random plots.
Don't even get me started on Singaporean sitcoms.
