hweepeng:dchristine; i dont mean that coloured earsticks should be disallowed. i just dont see any PURPOSE in it. so if you got nice legs or whatever, you should make your skirt shorter? and i doubt coloured earsticks make us study good. -.- to me, there was never a need to have the rule, yeah. (i found lots of rules in sch redundant) but if there is a such a rule, i dont see a need to complain about it.

"..."to me, there was never a need to have the rule, yeah."
That's exactly what I was talking about. I just don't see the need in having the rule, not that I cannot live without having coloured earsticks. I just stated my reasons in believing so.

"i just dont see any PURPOSE in it"
Why did I post that? Because I wanted people to know, to find out that this rule is not all that meaningful to us students. I don't demand immediate change, I just wish they would change the rule. I want them to. I don't necessarily need them to. I don't even feel that strongly about it. I am merely stating why I do not like the rule and why it should be changed. I don't want to press for change because this is such a small matter, I just wish they would change it. I DO NOT EXPECT CHANGE, however I would love it if they did. Having change was NOT the purpose of my rant. This was just a platform to express myself and my feelings, my opinion.

As Phoebe once said, you can wish you could marry your math teacher, and even if you never do in the end, it makes you cheerful\hopeful and you're happy you did.

And that's exactly why I posted this blog post. Actually, most of it was because I was bored but that's something else.

so if you got nice legs or whatever, you should make your skirt shorter?
You don't pay for long legs, but you pay for ear holes. Some say the purpose of earsticks is to keep the ear hole there. Yes, I agree, but with coloured earsticks there's the additional benefit of actually USING the ear hole you PAID to get done. Also besides giving more value for money, it jazzes up your ears (which is, really, the whole purpose of ear accessories) even if by a small margin. Also good for those who hate gold and silver ear studs (I personally don't like them too much because I don't like that most are hard to take out) Did you pay to get long legs? Uh oh, I guess not. It may be a small issue but it counts.

but if there is a such a rule, i dont see a need to complain about it.
I am merely stating my views in the issue. Seeing how concrete the school is in their beliefs I do not expect them to change it, but I would like people to know I am not entirely happy with this rule.

i doubt coloured earsticks make us study good
No, they don't. Never said they did. Not saying you said I did either.

Some additional notes\points to think about.
a) If the school allows coloured shoes, why not coloured earsticks? Similar to earsticks, coloured shoes don't make much difference either. But it's allowed. Why? Not trying to kick any fuss up, just wanted to know... really!

b) Allow me to make an amendment to my statement. I would only like to allow earsticks of black, white and navy blue (Since people have complained colours are too outrageous). For those saying people of the public will look down on us because we have coloured earsticks: Do members of the public look down on us because we wear shoes that include the colours blue and black? From what I know and from what complaints the school receives and announces, no (You could argue the opposite, but please provide concrete evidence). So I would like to know how this will make a difference in earsticks if it doesn't in shoes?

In conclusion... I believe that wearing coloured earsticks will have no gain (to some students there probably will be a gain actually) and no loss, so why not?
