- Edit -

Some stuff to help you make your decision.

The save money way.

- White shirt - doesn't need to be high quality (read: expensive) to last, and does not fade - but gets dirty easily. If you decide to disregard the fact that all shirts get dirty if you spill something on it. It's just a question of how obvious.

- Most T-Shirt printing shops offer it at a cheaper price as well

- No collar (less hot, less strangly as well)

- Only 2 text colors

- Budget: $15

The splurge money way.

- Black shirt (or any color, really), but it'll cost more

- High quality shirt that will not fade easily ($ fly away)

- Loads of colours

- Collar (Hey, coolness comes at a price - including the heat and strangling you'll have to endure)

- Other materials

Budget: At least $20 (Even if you exclude the loads of colours option. Seriously.)

See, if you want the base black, you'll have to buy the high quality ones so it doesn't fade, and ADDED TO THAT black shirts cost more. So unless you spend more on high-quality shirts, you'll be paying for $15 shirts that fade in 2 washes.

It's up to you I guess.

Ooh, and about the Andrea saying "then it'll look like a house tee [if there are no collars]"..

I'll assure you that I have lots of T-Shirts at home that look nowhere as crappy as the house tees. It's about the design (and the tucking in), my friend =D
